About Thomas Detert
Thomas was born and raised in the steel town of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada. He grew up part-time on nearby St. Joseph Island at the family “camp”. Eventually he decided to live full time on his beloved island in 2010.
He fell in love with photography at the young age of 12 when his grandmother gifted him a Kodak 110-format camera with disposable flash trays. Eventually, he found his niche in landscape photography.
In his adventures, Thomas has travelled to Alaska, the Yukon, the American South-West, Scotland, Germany, Italy and other places to capture stunning landscapes. But nothing is more beautiful to him than his immediate stomping grounds of the Great Lakes. In particular, he has a fascination with Lake Superior Provincial Park, located on the north shore of Lake Superior.
Thomas shoots with Nikon and Sony cameras, Nikkor and Sigma lenses, Manfrotto tripods.
