My Artistic Philosophy…

I will do whatever it takes to capture the image that I want. I will get bitten by insects, lay on snow, slush, mud, rocks. I will wade into creeks and streams. I will freeze, I will sweat, I will get soaking wet.

Any editing that I do is for one purpose - to enhance and communicate the emotion of the moment I captured. This may include touch ups to remove sensor spots, cloning to remove unwanted elements (such as a road sign or electrical wires), perspective corrections, sharpening, and the like.

In this digital age, a photograph can be manipulated to the point of fantasy. And there is a place for that type of imagery in the art market. I don’t consider that to be a true fine art photograph.

Any image you see available in my portfolio was taken with a camera. Some shots may be the combination of multiple exposures of the same subject during difficult lighting conditions. But you will not see me take elements from one photograph and superimpose them into another photograph to create a picture of something that simply just didn’t happen. I believe that crosses the line from photographic art into fantasy.

Fine Art Prints…

When it comes to buying photographic art, you can see similar prints from different photographers at very different prices for similar sized prints. Why is that?

Some photographers will print off the images at home on ink jet printers. Some will use professional photo labs using the best quality materials. The price difference, and the difference in quality speak for themselves.

When I am out shooting, I am out there with professional quality cameras, lenses, filters, tripods. Why would I then take my high megapixel image and subject it to an ink jet printer on photo paper. Fine Art prints deserve the best professional printers, materials and presentation!

My prints are made by top quality photo labs, with quality hardware mounting options. Unless otherwise requested, they are printed on metal with ink dyes infused onto the surface for a very long lasting, resistant finish.

Only then do I consider a print “fine art” and ready to sign my name to.

Your fine art print is backed by my personal 180 day money-back guarantee. If you are unsatisfied for any reason, simply return the print for a full refund. (Shipping and insurance costs are not included.)
